From A Music Lover to ....

In the Name of Allah, The Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatuhu...

I pray all of you be in the best of health and Imaan InshaAllah.
Today I wanted to share a small story of my sister with you ladies. My sister had been a music lover for ages. Daily she would go for a walk and listen to the music at the same time for about 25-30 minutes. My mother would tell her to not listen to music but she would just ignore it saying she is habitual and she JUST can't leave it. But none the less, my mother would always remind her that its not permissible. As time passed, she started to think and actually got around the fact that listening to music was 'Haraam' so she decided to leave it. But Habits don't go away that easily, so what she did to leave that one habit she couldn't leave is my prime purpose of writing this blog post. She actually found something alternative to listen to (Nasheeds). So, at the same time, she left a bad habit and Alhamdulilah got a better one. Point being, when you are stuck and can't let go of something you know is wrong, what you should do is to grab onto a similar one that is permissible.Another MOST important point to keep in mind, Before trying to leave off any bad habit, you must ask Allah for guidance because Only He can guide us to the straight path:

Allah sends astray whom He wills and He guides on the Straight Path whom He wills. (Surah Al- Anam)
